In this feature we will ask one runner an insightful question to give you an idea about what they think about when they are not running. See if you can guess who we interviewed. You can add a comment with your answer.
Q: What was the best thing that happened to you today?
A: I got a ring pop from my teacher.

Fractured Quote of the Week
"People always talk about triumphs of the human spirit, well today I had a triumph of the human body. That's why everybody was applauding for me at the end. My guts and my heart. And while I eventually puked my guts out... I never puked my heart out. "

Some old faces
It was good to see some old faces at the UF meet this weekend. We are glad that they helped build the tradition of excellence.

Josh Brown (08) is running at North Florida.

Chiles Boys at UF
Chiles boys considering the future.
The race season about to start.
Sam and Brandon
Brandon with about a 300 yards go.
Brandon finished 28th in 17:39.
Senior Daniel Ross finished 27th in 17:37.
First for us.
Freshman Taylor Buzzard looks good in his first high school cross country meet. He runs about a 6 flat mile average in his first meet and helps us at number 5. Good work Taylor. You're only going to get better.
Andrew has a senior moment. (Remember the camera is always watching.)
The boys finish sixth. One point behind behind Sickles (3a) in a pretty tough field. Belen (first) and Jesuit (second) are ranked at the top of their divisions. Plant (3a) was third.
We had a good pack at one through four, and surprise help from a freshman at five. All of them know they can run faster. Let's show them next week.

Girl's Team Wins in Gainesville
Before the race Carly is smiling like she knows something.
Carly battling Satelite number one runner at about a mile and quarter.
Lily at about 4k. She finished 4th in 19:22.
Kaia finished 9th in 19:44.
Kendall gets a medal for 12th place with a 20:01.
Alex ran 21:02 and finished 20th.
Kelley stops to pose for the photographer but still ran 21:20.
Stephanie with a strong finish runs 21:21. Satelite's number 3 is in the background. But lets remember girls what happens when we forget about Satelite.
Very nice first meet. The girls ran great with a sub 20 minute average. Lots of great performances. But we know that Satelite and the rest of Florida isn't going to quit and go home. The first meet always shows who worked hard over the summer, but there is still alot of season left.
Boys photos tomorrow.

Time Trial / some images
Senior Andrew McWilliams
The girls starting a new year.
The guys requesting additional assistance.
The 2008 time trial was held today at Micossukee Greenway. This is the sixth year in a row at the greenway. The first couple of years I didn't like this location. It's back in the woods and you can't see the runners except for a couple of quick glimpses. But you almost have to run in the shaded woods because its so hot this time of year. Now I really like this location because you can compare times year to year. Which is really cool. The boys course record is still intact. I remember Alex Miletich breaking 10:00 in 2003. That was the year he was individual state champion, and the team wasn't too bad either (ranked 17th in the nation).
The results this year will have to wait. Lets just say I saw alot of potential, and plenty of evidence of people doing some hard work this summer.
